Erasmus Masters Scholarships 2024 in Materials Engineering & Artificial Intelligence

Brief description:

The FAMEAIS Master programme, formally titled as "Functional Advanced Materials Engineering with Artificial Intelligence for Sustainability," is an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's programme. It builds on the current Erasmus Mundus Joint Master FAME+ (Functional Advanced Materials and Engineering) program, which has a history of over 15 years and has produced over 300 graduates from diverse countries across the world.

The primary goal of the FAMEAIS program is to produce high-level graduates who are well-equipped to contribute to European research and industry. The program focuses on using artificial intelligence technologies to address sustainability concerns in the field of advanced materials, which is seen as a crucial technology for increasing European competitiveness.

The FAMEAIS program integrates materials engineering and artificial intelligence to prepare students to work on innovative materials in a sustainable manner. This one-of-a-kind combination provides graduates with the skills needed to contribute to research and industry, solving significant sustainability concerns in materials-related domains.

The program incorporates a collaboration of seven high-level European institutions from four countries and provides a complete education that encompasses diverse European education systems. Students benefit from a mobility system that allows them to establish a solid basic knowledge in the first year and then specialise in the second year based on their interests and professional ambitions. FAMEAIS provides graduates with the skills and expertise needed to handle sustainability concerns in advanced materials, making them great contributors to the research sectors.

FAMEAIS will bring together seven European HEIs that are leaders in materials science: Aveiro in Portugal, France, Augsburg and Darmstadt in Germany, and Aveiro in Belgium.

Through the teaching of Physics and Chemistry of Materials, the FAMEAIS program incorporates Artificial Intelligence training and sustainability issues. Innovative learning practices based on a learn-by-doing approach, virtual exchanges, and blended mobility are used to support the teaching assets. Industry, RTOs, global universities, and alumni are heavily involved in student mentorships, e-seminars, plant visits, company internships, and master thesis.

FAMEAIS alumni will join industry and/or PhD positions, or possibly create their own businesses, in the technological realm of functionalized advanced materials, handling both technological and sustainability concerns.
